CORONA DEL MAR - Corona del Mar High baseball coach John Emme will
head up the Fall Baseball Academy instructional staff, which help the
first 50 registrants improve the offensive and defensive aspect of their
game, beginning Sept. 10.
The academy, which will convene Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30
p.m., through Nov. 19 at the CdM varsity field, is open to kids ages
10-14 (except those currently in the ninth grade, who are not eligible
due to CIF Southern Section regulations).
The fee of $450 includes Sea King hats, T-shirts and personal
videotaping, which will be reviewed with coaches.
Instruction, also provided by CdM varsity assistant Steve Foreman and
former Florida State and Orange Coast College assistant Joel Desguin,
will emphasize fundamentals, including hitting, pitching and fielding, as
well as the mental approach to the game.
In addition, intrasquad games and a weekly parent/player clinic,
designed to pass along good drills and activities that can be done at
home, will be held.
The camp will conclude with a weekday game and barbecue, followed by
an awards ceremony.
The academy will be limited to the first 50 registrants, to insure an
ideal coach/player ratio.
For an application and/or information, phone Emme (714) 424-7575 ext.
