LeMaster second at CTS event
Huntington Beach’s Danny Ray LeMaster was edged out by Stewart Cohen
of Northridge in the Senior Men’s competition at last weekend’s
Championship Tour Series surfing event held at the San Clemente Pier.
LeMaster was one of three Huntington Beach surfers to place high at
the five-star event, which was held in fair to good surf conditions and
featured 3- to 5-foot waves.
James Webb placed fourth in Masters and Jay Boldt was fourth in
Grandmasters.
In addition to Cohen, other division winners included: Boys: Donald
Salter (Santa Cruz); Junior Men: Peter Garaway (Santa Cruz); Men: Pat
Drummy (San Clemente); Open Men: Pat Drummy; Masters: Kris Wolfe
(Reseda); Grandmasters: Steve Weaver (San Clemente) and Open Mens
Longboard: Cyrus Sutton (San Pedro).
San Clemente also was the site of last weekend’s LA-OC Grand Prix
District Series, which is part of a series of qualifying events for the
West Coast Championship Titles, United States Amateur Championship Titles
and the U.S. Amateur World Team Titles.
Huntington Beach’s Jeff Combs placed sixth in the Open Mens Division.
The three-star event also was held in 3- to 5-foot waves.
