Mets have no trouble with Dodgers, 13-3

With six hitters figuring in a 13-run output and pitcher Garrett Shinn

setting the tone with a solid start to the game, the Mets last weekend

toppled the Dodgers, 13-3, in Majors Division play.

The Mets offense managed a single, double and four runs scored by

Scott Melchert, a triple and four runs scored by Troy Davis, a double by

David Harrington and Darryl Bennett and an RBIs from Jeff Hennes and

Anthony Biegel.

Shinn allowed just two hits and a run in three innings on the mound.

The Dodgers’ highlights included two hits and an RBI by Ryan Bautista,

a hit and run scored by John Tomasek and a single by James Miller.

Prior to defeating the Dodgers, the Mets needed eight innings to get

past the Yankees, 4-3.

The Mets rallied for two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to

force extra innings, and then came up with two more runs in the bottom of

the eighth to pull out the win.

This time around, Shinn paced the Mets offense with a pair of hits and

two runs scored and Matt Mountford had a hit.

Joseph Park pitched a strong game for the Yankees, allowing three hits

and recording 12 strikeouts. Park also had two hits and Charlie Martin

finished with a hit and an RBI.

In other games:

A’s 10, Yankees 5

Again the Yankees were done in by a sixth inning rally, this one

occurring in the top of the inning, as the A’s scored five runs to break

away from a 5-5 tie.

Down 5-4 in the fifth inning, the A’s Nick Orendorff hit a solo home

run to tie the score. He later came up with a an RBI double in the sixth

to aid the A’s late rally.

Orendorff finished with three hits on the day.

Randy Guite also had a two-RBI single for the A’s.

Scott Baxter pitched the final three innings and held the Yankees

scoreless.

Daniel Williams had a two-RBI single, Park had two hits and Phillip

Cobb singled for the Yankees.

A’s 19, Giants 0

The A’s big offensive week began by downing the Giants as Scott Baxter

clubbed a two-run home run, Steven Martinez picked up four hits,

Orendorff had three hits, and Orendorff, Davey Hughey and Travis

Dagdigian combined for the shutout.

Justin Pack had a hit and walk to lead the Giants.

Giants 6, Dodgers 4

The Giants won behind the pitching of Chris Nowlin, Ryan Schulenburg

and Kyle Hughes, each of whom threw two innings.

MINOR B DIVISION

Dodgers 6, Yankees 5

Jacob Pascoe went 3 for 3 with five RBI, which included the

game-winning RBI in the bottom of the sixth inning, Jason Fernandez had

two hits and scored three runs -- including the game-winner, Jack Bennett

had a hit and scored twice and Sean Rubio threw three innings and limited

the Yankees to one run without a hit, while striking out seven.

Red Sox 16, Dodgers 10

Leadoff hitter Trevor Geery had three hits and Mark Johnson struck out

seven in three innings for the Dodgers.
