Golf: Young Sea Kings finish sixth in CIF

CHINO HILLS - With three sophomores and two freshmen, Corona del

Mar High’s boys golf team finished sixth Monday in the CIF Southern

Section divisional team championships on the par-72 North Course at Los

Serranos Golf Course.

Nick Sherman (76), Tim Frohling (76), Brad Chamberlin (79), Alex

Chikovani (79) and Robert Ury (80) scored for Coach Mike Starkweather’s

Sea Kings, who shot 390.

Esperanza won the title at 369, followed by Huntington Beach (375),

Long Beach Wilson (376), Edison (376) and Brea Olinda (376).

In the tournament, CdM finished ahead of Pacific Coast League rival

University (eighth place) by four strokes.

Chikovani and Chamberlin will compete next Monday in the CIF

individual championships at Green River.
