Two cars were hit when a woman driving a sports utility vehicle ran a
red light in Newport Beach Sunday morning, police said. Only minor
injuries were reported.
“A female driver in a Ford Explorer ran the red light at Jamboree and
San Joaquin [roads] and hit two cars that were making a left hand turn in
front of her,” Sgt. Mike McDermott said. The accident occurred at 11 a.m.
The woman was treated at the scene for a cut to her nose and cuts to
one of her legs. The other two drivers reported only minor pains. It took
about one hour to clear the intersection.
