Softball: Pirates show no mercy

MISSION VIEJO - The Orange Coast College softball team didn’t have
a whole lot to smile about this season, but the Pirates probably showed a
lot of pearly whites during Tuesday’s 9-0 Orange Empire Conference win
over host Saddleback.
The Pirates (8-22-1, 3-18 in conference) blew the game open with a
seven-run first inning. The Bucs added single runs in the third and
fourth innings before the game was called after five, their first mercy
win of the season.
Gina Mitchell went 1 for 1 with two runs scored and two RBIs, while
Meredith Miles added two hits, a run and an RBI for OCC.
Hard-luck pitcher Kim Guillen improved her record to 2-12 with a
complete-game four-hitter. Saddleback drops to 12-24, 6-15).
