The South Huntington Beach Blackouts retained their hold on the top
spot in the 12 & Under Division and also gained a measure of revenge by
beating the Blue Lightning, 13-12, in South Huntington Beach Girls’
Fastpitch Softball action.
The lead changed hands four times before Allison Wyman delivered the
decisive RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the
Blackouts (8-2) the win, avenging an earlier loss to the Blue Lightning.
Loryn Kanemaru came up with a big game for the Blackouts, going 3 for
3 with a double and two RBIs, as well as getting several assists on
putouts from her shortstop position, in addition to two infield catches,
one of which ended a Blue Lightning scoring threat with two runners on
base.
Josie Flores singled twice and had a pair of RBIs, Emily Carr, Kimi
Thompson and Katie Hartwell each had a single and RBI, and Shannon
Peterson and Amanda Gayle each singled to round out the Blackouts’
offensive output.
