FOUNTAIN VALLEY -- Police arrested a 14-year-old boy last week on
suspicion of making a bomb threat at Los Amigos High School.
Officials at the school on Newhope Street told authorities March 21
that a threatening note had been found on campus.
An investigation led authorities to a male student, who was arrested
and later released to his parents. He has since been suspended.
The school has petitioned the Orange County district attorney’s office
that the student be prosecuted.
“We want students and parents to be aware of the consequences for such
actions,” said Alan Trudell, spokesman for the Garden Grove Unified
School District.
Los Amigos is in Fountain Valley, but is part of the Garden Grove
district.
Under the state education code, such actions are subject to expulsion,
Trudell said.
School and police officials handle these incidents every bit as
aggressive as they have in the past, said Capt. Paul Sorrell of the
Fountain Valley Police Department.
“What’s different now are the rashes of threats throughout California,
not just here,” Trudell said.
No further information about the details will be released until the
district attorney’s office has reviewed the matter, officials said.
