ALISO NIGUEL - The Newport Harbor High baseball team suffered its
seventh Sea View League loss, but Sailors Coach Jim Kiefer said he saw
improvement at Aliso Niguel Wednesday.
With two outs, Tars senior catcher Garrett Brant hammered a three-run
homer, his first of the season, in the third inning. The blast scored
junior Cameron Pemstein and senior Alan Lane for a 3-2 lead.
But, Aliso Niguel (10-3, 6-2 in league) grabbed two runs in the bottom
of the inning and one more in the fourth to secure victory.
Newport (4-8, 1-7) will play at Irvine, Friday at 3:15 p.m.
“We struggled last week,” Kiefer said. “But, today we competed a
little bit better. We were in it all the way until the seventh inning. It
was definitely an improvemnt overall.”
