Prep equestrian: Kim shines in the saddle

HUNTINGTON BEACH - Nicole Kim, riding for Corona del Mar High, was
runner-up in the varsity individual overall competition at the final two
shows of the Interscholastic Equestrian League season, Saturday and
Sunday at the Huntington Central Park Equestrian Center.
Kim was first in hunt seat equitation both days and was also first
among varsity riders in IEL medal class. Her efforts, as well as those by
teammate Whitney Weidner, helped CdM finish second in the varsity team
standings both days.
Sydney Farrer, Julia Koetting, Whitney Roy and Ann Schroeder all
helped CdM earn top honors among junior varsity teams both days.
Roy won top JV individual honors Sunday, including a first-place
showing in English pleasure.
Koetting won the JV IEL medal competition Saturday, when Schreoder
topped all JV riders in working hunters.
In dressage, CdM’s Tina DiSano won the novice training level one and
level two competition on Sunday, after finishing third in both Saturday.
She was dressage high-point champion Sunday.
These were the sixth and seventh IEL shows of the season.
