Awards for those with community spirit

The Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce and South Coast Metro Alliance will
present Hall of Fame Awards today to Share Our Selves, CarrAmerica Realty
Corp. and James Phillips, director of Scudder Kemper Investments Inc.
The annual Hall of Fame Awards event, scheduled from 11:45 a.m. to
1:45 p.m., recognizes businesses and business members who contribute to
the community.
The Hall of Fame Awards replaced the Man and Woman of the Year event
last year.
Phillips is receiving the Individual Achievement Award, presented to a
person who has been successful in his or her field and who has shown
“outstanding involvement in the community,” according to the event
program.
CarrAmerica Realty will receive the Corporate Leadership Award, which
is given to a large corporation or a small company that has “demonstrated
outstanding leadership in its respective industry and the community,”
according to the program.
Share Our Selves, a nonprofit corporation that helps the poor by
providing food, clothing, emergency financial assistance, housing,
transportation, prescriptions and children’s assistance, will receiving
the Community Spirit Award.
The award is for “a company or individual who excels in giving back to
the community,” according to the program.
The luncheon will be at the Costa Mesa Hilton, 3050 Bristol St., Costa
Mesa.
