South Coast Repertory will present the staged reading of Anthony

Clarvoe’s new play, “Ctrl Alt Del,” which translates to “Control

Alternate Delete,” at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

The comedy, about the spreading techno-business culture, is set in key

locales of corporate America where “nowhere is private, nothing is

personal, and nobody’s home.” The reading is part of SCR’s annual season

of play readings supported by funds from SCR’s endowment and from

honorary associate producer Ursula Gries. The theater is at 655 Town

Corona del Mar woman stars in original play

Karen McDaniel of Corona del Mar will play Kathy, the mother in “A

House Divided,” an original play written by 17-year-old Drake Doremus.

The play will open March 30 at the DePietro Performance Center’s Don

Cribb Theater.

The two-act play is a dark, “grown-up” comedy that focuses on the

perils of going back and forth between divorced parents, illustrates the

difficulties, the frailties and humor of what it’s like for a young

teenage boy to balance his affections between the lifestyles of his

parents. The DePietro Performance Center is at 809 N. Main St., Santa

Summer jazz series to start June 15

Hyatt Newporter will present its summer jazz series at 7:30 p.m.

Fridays beginning June 15, and continuing through October 12, at its

outdoor amphitheater, 1107 Jamboree Road, Newport Beach.

The lineup will begin with artists Strunz & Farah, Acoustic Alchemy

with Paul Taylor and Bobby Caldwell. Ticket prices range from $25 to $35.
