The city of Fountain Valley joined Anaheim, Irvine, Rancho Santa

Margarita, Los Alamitos, La Habra and Placentia in signing a proclamation

to make March the Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.

The joint-signing ceremony was held Tuesday at the Fountain Valley

City Council Chambers, 10200 Slater Ave.

Easter Egg Hunt set next month

The city of Fountain Valley Community Services Division and the

Fountain Valley Kiwanis Club are hosting an Easter Egg Hunt from 8 a.m.

to 11 a.m., April 14 at the Fountain Valley Recreation Center, 16400

Brookhurst Ave.

Breakfast will be served from 8 to 11 a.m. and the Easter Egg Hunt

will begin at 10 a.m.

$3 for breakfast and the egg hunt is for children age 11 and under.

Restaurant helps ‘Clothe the Children’

Capone’s Pasta & Pizza in Huntington Beach will participate in the

community outreach program “Clothe the Children” with a buffet-style

dinner.

Twice a year, the Huntington Beach Kiwanis Club, the Oak View

Salvation Army and the two Mervyn’s stores in Huntington Beach host

“Clothe the Children.”

Hours before the Mervyn’s opens up its doors to the public, Kiwanis

members spend two hours shopping with the children. The shopping spree is

concluded with breakfast, presents and entertainment. Over the past 12

years of existence, “Clothe the Children” has helped over 1,200 kids and

their families.

In conjunction with its one-year anniversary party, the Italian

restaurant will host the fund-raiser from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday.

Owner and chef, Dino Ferraro will prepare a buffet-style menu of hot

pastas, pizzas, salads, chicken and seafood.

Cost for the event at Capone’s is $15, and includes dinner,

entertainment and surprises. Proceeds will go toward helping put much

needed clothes on children in the community.

The restaurant is in the Newland Center, 19688 Beach Blvd., Huntington

Beach.

Coed football team heading to San Diego

The Boys & Girls Club of Huntington Valley will take their coed

football team on the road Saturday to the Boys & Girls Club of Chula

Vista in San Diego to participate in a round-robin football tournament

involving clubs from all over the Southland.
