Community college golf: Pirates defeat host Santa Ana

CHINO - Orange Coast College freshmen Jake Allanach, a Newport

Harbor High product, and Jason Woodrome each shot 2-under-par 70 and

shared medalist honors Wednesday as the Pirates defeated host Santa Ana,

364-377, in an Orange Empire Conference men’s golf match at El Prado Golf

Course.

OCC’s Brian Winston (73), Lou Carrasco (75), a Costa Mesa product, and

Mike Akahoshi (76) also scored for the Pirates, who used only five

players.

“Shooting 364 on the road, I think that’s an Orange Coast record for

only five players,” OCC Coach Barry Wallace said. “We made 73 pars and 13

birdies.”

OCC (13-4, 6-4 in conference) will return to action Monday against

Santiago Canyon at El Prado.
