Boys Volleyball: Harbor not enough for Santa Margarita
NEWPORT BEACH - Undefeated Santa Maragarita High, the third-ranked
boys volleyball team in Orange County, proved to be too much for host
Newport Harbor as the Sailors lost, 8-15, 10-15, 8-15, in a nonleague
match Wednesday.
Junior Morgan Craig led Harbor (2-2) with 13 kills, while senior
Christian Berg-Hanson had nine with three blocks. Tars junior Loyd Wright
finished with 36 assists.
“They looked good,” Sailors Coach Dan Glenn said of the Eagles (6-0).
“They have two of the top players (Damien Scott and Blake Robinson, both
all-CIF last year) in Orange County high school. They’re somebody who we
play in the playoffs so we have to get better.
The Tars, ranked No. 5 in the county, will look to improve when they
resume action at Mira Costa, Friday at 7 p.m.
