GREER WYLDER -- Best Buys
The latest jewelry designs to arrive at Ice Accessories Inc. are from
Orly Baruch Designs and Cathleen Waronker. Orly Baruch has a spring line
called Madonna Madness. It features individually hand-enameled cross
medallion necklaces in 925 silver. The prices range from $90 to $295.
Cathleen Waronker has necklaces and earrings made from mother of pearl
and abalone with Swarovoski crystals. Waronker designs definitely have a
mermaid theme -- the styles range from a disk necklace, floral chokers,
starfish earrings and mounted starfish earrings. The prices range from
$50 to $300. The shop is in South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. Information:
(714) 432-7555.
A best buy on healthful food can be found at the new Chipotle
restaurant in Costa Mesa. The quick-service, gourmet Mexican restaurant
uses fresh, chopped herbs instead of dried, and makes fresh guacamole
daily. They are continuously grilling marinated fresh meats and making
fresh chips and taco shells. The restaurant boasts that it doesn’t have a
freezer or microwave. The food is out in the open, where you can watch
what’s going into the tacos or burritos. It’s open for lunch and dinner
from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. It’s at 2300 Harbor Blvd., Costa Mesa.

Mari-Bey Lamp and Shade Co. is moving at the end of the month to
Laguna Niguel. There is not a moving sale, but the store has been a
perfect place to find a lampshade for years. The other local alternative
is Custom House Lighting in Newport Beach. Not only does Custom House
sell lampshades (a much smaller selection, though, than Mari-Bey), they
also make custom lampshades. The custom shade service is great. You may
choose almost any fabric and have a lampshade made to fit your decor.
Custom House Lighting is at 308 Old Newport Blvd., Newport Beach.
Information: (949) 642-4546. Mari-Bey Lamp and Shade Co. is at 298 E.
17th St., Costa Mesa. Information: (949) 646-7753.
Rose connoisseurs will love the exclusive roses that Roger’s Gardens
is carrying. The latest arrivals include Countesse de Provence, a coral
pink Romantica rose; garden sun, apricot blooms in a Romantica climber;
and bronze star, a brilliant amber orange hybrid tea rose. Of course,
Roger’s Gardens has always carries the David Austin hybrid roses that are
known to be a mix of English roses, old garden roses and modern hybrids.
If you would like to learn more about David Austin roses, David Austin
Jr. will be at the nursery at 9 a.m. April 21. Austin will share stories
of his father’s quest to develop the perfect rose and answer questions.
The David Austin roses that are available at Roger’s include the Eveyln,
a yellow and orange rose; dream weaver, a bright coral pink floribunda
climber rose; and eden, a pastel pink, cream and yellow climber rose. Two
of the most popular roses of the season are the Barbra Streisand --
personally chosen by Streisand, it’s a lavender color hybrid tea; and the
brilliant pink iceberg, noted as being one of the top 10 roses in the
world. Cristin Fusano, Roger’s horticulturist and consulting designer,
will hold a rose seminar at 9 a.m. Saturday. Also, if you’re really a
rose aficionado, you may enter an amateur rose contest to be held May 20.
It’s at 2301 San Joaquin Hills Road, Corona del Mar. Information: (949)

at 204 E. 17th St. Information: (949) 650-2551.
