RETAIL ROUNDUP

This whole Old Navy thing has to stop.

The latest line to come out of the zeitgeist-lookalike clothing store?

Canine Couture.

“It’s fashion for four-legged friends,” says the spiral-bound press

release sent to the Pilot. Apparently, they plan new fabrics every

season, too, which means our pooches can go through more articles of

clothing than a typical infant.

But it isn’t just clothing. The store also is offering rope toys,

flying disks, food bowls and tennis balls.

The problem? Yeah, it’s all pretty reasonable, which means we’ll be

forced to shop there for the bargains alone.

Now find a wall to hang them on

It isn’t only Old Navy that’s branching out from its original retail

tree. Home Depot, which has been adding this and that for years, has

introduced a new selection of wall coverings, called, simply enough,

Simply Color. We checked, and that just means wallpaper.

However, these particular ones come textured (we’ve felt them, and

they are rough and ready) and in a half-dozen colors. They also are made

using a European printing process -- we’re not quite so sure what that

means, but we love almost all things European, so we’re pretty intrigued.
