Solid Gold wins three at Sectional

Solid Gold, a boys’ Under-10 Division All-star team out of Region 117,
won three games last weekend at the Sectional Tournament held at UC
Irvine.
Solid Gold also played to a 3-3 tie with Huntington Park, but, despite
going 2-0-1 in tournament play, lost out to Huntington Park in a battle
to reach the division final against La Mirada.
Solid Gold first defeated San Diego, 6-1. Drew Russell scored two
goals, Michael Chairez, Juan-Carlos Rodriguez, Joel Antista and Ryan
Little each scored once and Russell, Chairez and Rodriguez each had an
assist.
Next came a 3-1 decision over San Clemente, where Rodriguez scored
twice and Kevin Kuwahara scored once. Kuwahara scored all three goals for
Solid Gold in the tie with Huntington Park.
Solid Gold goalie Kyle Day made several key saves against Huntington
Park.
Other Solid Gold members include: Trevor Warren, Lucas Vandeman,
Brandon Messer, Jonathan Crouch, Alec Stone and coaches Juan Rodriguez
and Dave Day.

Region 117 wins Area 11-K title
The Under-14 Division Gold All-stars out of Region 117 (Huntington
Beach/Fountain Valley) won the Area 11-K tournament. The team went 8-0-1
in tournament play, giving up just four goals, while scoring 19. Members
of the Gold All-star team include: Christina Berardi, Christi Brady,
Natalie Devane, Nam-anh Doan, Chelsea Farndale, Katia Hadj-Hamou, Deena
Kim, Stephanie Logsdon, Molly Narodick, Kristin Nason, Allison Rassp,
Kara Russell, Rachyll Tenny, Vikki Vandeman and Kristi Wilson.
