NBLL: Dodgers edge Red Sox, 4-3

The Newport Beach Little League Majors Division Dodgers broke a 3-3
tie in the top of the sixth inning to defeat the Red Sox, 4-3, Saturday.
Kelsey Chase’s RBI single scored Kyle Johnson with the tiebreaking
run. Ryan Austin’s triple in the third inning scored Luke Grelner, Tommy
Folks and Allen Hardison for a 3-0 Dodgers’ advantage.
The Red Sox tied the game in the bottom of the third with solid
hitting by J.R. Dion and Timothy Leber.
Dodger Alex Johnson made the defensive play of the game, gunning down
a runner at the plate from center field.
In AAA Division action:
Cardinals 14, Tigers 13 - The Cardinals jumped out to a 10-4 lead and
held on for the win.
Cardinal pitcher Kevin Tsou allowed only one run in two innings of
work.
Dodgers 6, Mariners 3 - The Dodgers won their third in a row with
Saturday’s win over the Mariners.
Reed Zachman and Grant Johnson each pitched well, while Michael Bloom
came in to close out the sixth inning.
Noah Molnar, Russell Goldberg and Mike Artenian sparked the Dodgers’
offense, while Brad Jones made a big-time defensiv play with the bases
loaded.
The Mariners were led by strong pitching from Hunter Alder, Sean
Tokyama and Tommy Colton, while Cory MacDonald made a nice defensive play
at third base.
In AA Division action:
Mariners 17, Mets 2 - Alex Mainthow, Zac Cabin and Matt Ruiz each had
multi-hit games to lead the Mariners over the Mets.
Trevor McGhie and Dillon Campbell each added key hits, while Doug
Watt, Mitch Gardner, Dillon Campbell and Ruiz sparked the Mariners’
pitching.
Alec Pastre, Anthony Mainero, Alex Waddle and Dylan Salisbury anchored
the M’s defense.
The Mets were led by strong defense by J.D. Abbott, Chase Carlile,
Reed Williams, Matt Doka, Riley Conroy, Scott Cook, Jack Cooper and Kyle
Canale.
Red Sox 11, Dodgers 10 - Weston Nielsen drove in three runs with a
triple and Jackie Anderson had the game-winning hit for the Red Sox in
their win over the Dodgers.
Parker Werlie scored twice, while Blake Thomsen and Will Morrow led
the Red Sox pitching.
Peter Markel, Brennan Anderson and Josh Harrison each played strong
defense for the Red Sox, while J.B. Salem and Andrew Conger each scored
runs.
The Dodgers trailed, 11-6, before rallying late, led by Jarrett Logan,
Carter Taylor, Karl Fletcher and Francesco Impagliazzo.
