Two robbers made off with an undisclosed amount of money from a
Fountain Valley hotel Monday after forcing a clerk to the ground at
gunpoint.
Fountain Valley police officers responded to the armed robbery at 2:31
a.m. in the 9900 block of Slater Avenue.
Police said the robbers entered the business and confronted a
29-year-old female clerk, forcing her to lay down on the floor.
They removed money from a cash drawer and left. The clerk was not
injured, police said.
The suspects have been described as two black males. The first was
described as 25 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall and 200 pounds and was
wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a blue and white bandanna tied
around his face.
The second was also described as 25 years old, 5-11 and 210 to 220 pounds and was wearing a green hooded sweatshirt, khaki pants and had a
nylon stocking pulled over his face. Both were armed with a handgun and
possibly left the area in a dark blue Honda Accord, police said.

Trash-hauling worker killed in accident
A mechanic for Rainbow Disposal Service died Friday from injuries
suffered when he was pinned between two trash trucks.
Santa Ana resident Delfino Solis, 61, died at 7:58 a.m. at UCI Medical
Center from injuries sustained in the March 7 accident.
Solis had apparently emptied a small amount of trash from a collection
truck at about 2:19 p.m. when the accident happened, said Sgt. Janet
Perez, spokeswoman for the Huntington Beach Police Department.
A preliminary investigation found that as Solis was working, the trash
vehicle began to roll forward, police said, adding that Solis had
apparently tried to halt the truck’s motion, but became pinned between
the cab and another trash vehicle.
Perez said the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Ron Shenkman, vice president of Rainbow Disposals, called the accident
a tragedy and said Rainbow has lost a very important member of its
family.
“The company is doing everything possible to make sure that Mr.
Sollis’ family is taken care of,” Shenkman said. “Their protection is in
place and there are numerous benefits that they are eligible for and we
are making sure that they receive everything they are entitled to.”
Shenkman added that Rainbow, at 17121 Nichols St. in Huntington Beach,
has been inundated with calls from the community.
Injured car accident victim dies
A Surf City woman hospitalized at UCI Medical Center for more than a
month after being hit by a car in January died as a result of her
injuries.
Huntington Beach police said that Diana Lee, 48, died from severe head
and body trauma injuries at about 4:40 a.m. March 7 at the UCI Medical
Center.
Lee was struck by a car traveling eastbound along Pacific Coast
Highway at 5:50 p.m. Jan. 24.
Police said witnesses told them Lee walked across the Seapoint Avenue
crosswalk with a small dog despite a red light and flashing “Don’t Walk”
signal.
Motorist David Carro, driving a 1984 BMW between 40 and 50 miles an
hour, had a green light as he approached the intersection, police added.
Lee and her pet had made it to the far left eastbound lane when they
were hit Carro. The impact sent Lee into the car windshield and then to
the ground. She suffered massive head and body trauma and was airlifted
to the medical center.
The dog had minor injuries and was cared for by animal control
officers.
