Men’s basketball: Pirates edge Riverside
COSTA MESA - The Orange Coast College men’s basketball team
overcame a 14-point second-half deficit to edge visiting Riverside,
98-96, in Orange Empire Conference action Wednesday night.
Nick Burwell led the Pirates (14-6, 5-0 in conference) with 30 points,
while Chad Hagedorn added 28 points and 18 rebounds.
The key to OCC’s success came at the free-throw line, where the Bucs
outscored the Tigers, 37-15.
Will Morris led the Tigers (12-11, 3-2) with 36 points.
Ryan Earl (14 points) and Ryan Webster (10 points) also contributed to
the Pirates’ attack.
The Pirates have won five in a row and 11 of their last 13.
