CdM boys win, 46-41

GARDEN GROVE - Corona del Mar High’s Sea Kings broke the ice with a

46-41 boys basketball victory over Saddleback Thursday at the La Quinta

Tournament, their first victory after a slow start over the first two

games.

“We practiced real hard about taking care of the ball,” said CdM Coach

Paul Orris. “We’ve decided we want to keep the score in the 40s and rely

on our defense until our offense gets a little more comfortable. So I’m

pleased with our progress. We ran our offense more patiently.”

Idean Shanangian and Zach Brewster led the way with 11 points apiece.

CdM returns to tournament play today with a 3 p.m. game against Santa

Ana Valley.
