The city of Costa Mesa and the Police Department are collecting canned
food, money and unwrapped, new toys for their annual Christmas Food and
Gift Program for needy families.
The donations collected during the drive, which ends today, will be
distributed among 100 families from 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Dec. 23 at the
Westside Substation, 567 W. 18th St.
Donations are being accepted between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the
substation and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the main police station at 99
Fair Drive.
The goal is to provide food for 100 low-income families and to present
a gift to each child among the families who is 12 years or younger.

Costa Mesa offers winter day camp
Registration is underway for the winter Camp Costa Mesa day camp,
which will be held from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 26-29 and from Jan. 2-5 at
the Balearic Community Center, 1975 Balearic Drive.
The day camp, for children 6 to 13, costs $85 per week, per child and
will include such activities as games, crafts and excursions.
