1. Songs for children. “S/He Loves Me, S/He Loves Me Not,” a musical
extravaganza presented by the British American Business Council of Orange
County, will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at The Sutton Place Hotel, 4500
MacArthur Blvd., Newport Beach. The event will raise money for the
business council’s International Exchange Program for Handicapped
Children, which offers trips to England to disabled children from

will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Harbor View Phase I
Clubhouse, 1854 Port Westbourne Place, Newport Beach. The third annual
event, organized by Andersen Elementary’s PTA, is expected to draw more

3. Rise and shine. Get an early start on Halloween with Pumpkins and
Pancakes, the ninth annual fund-raiser for the Friends of CASA (Court
Appointed Special Advocates) and CAST (Child Abuse Services Team). The
event will begin at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at South Coast Plaza’s west wing,
3333 Bear St., Costa Mesa. Live music, arts and crafts, carnival booths,
and trick-or-treating will be included. $20, or $15 in advance. Free for
