Gold Chargers come up short, 26-19
Despite falling behind in the early stages of Saturday’s game against
Saddelback Valley’s Golden Bears, the Huntington Beach Mighty Mite Gold
Chargers staged a spirited rally, only to come up on the short end of a
26-19 score in Pop Warner Football action held at Edison High.
Gregory Souders led the scoring for the Gold Chargers with touchdown
runs of 45 and 50 yards, and Christopher Halamandaris’s all-around
performance, which included four solo tackles, paced the Huntington Beach
defense.

Playing without the services of leading rusher/tailback Eugene
Starikov, the Pee Wee Green Chargers were blanked for the first time this
season.
Josh Herrera, back in action for the first time in three weeks after
suffering an ankle injury, led Huntington Beach with 20 yards on a day
when the offense could muster just 42 yards of total offense.
Despite the loss, the play of Patrick Cox was the highlight for the
Pee Wee Green Dolphins on defense.
Huntington Beach will conclude its season Saturday (1 p.m.) by hosting
the first-place Yorba Linda Colts at Edison High.
