Despite falling behind in the early stages of Saturday’s game against

Saddelback Valley’s Golden Bears, the Huntington Beach Mighty Mite Gold

Chargers staged a spirited rally, only to come up on the short end of a

26-19 score in Pop Warner Football action held at Edison High.

Gregory Souders led the scoring for the Gold Chargers with touchdown

runs of 45 and 50 yards, and Christopher Halamandaris’s all-around

performance, which included four solo tackles, paced the Huntington Beach

Playing without the services of leading rusher/tailback Eugene

Starikov, the Pee Wee Green Chargers were blanked for the first time this

season.

Josh Herrera, back in action for the first time in three weeks after

suffering an ankle injury, led Huntington Beach with 20 yards on a day

when the offense could muster just 42 yards of total offense.

Despite the loss, the play of Patrick Cox was the highlight for the

Pee Wee Green Dolphins on defense.

Huntington Beach will conclude its season Saturday (1 p.m.) by hosting

the first-place Yorba Linda Colts at Edison High.
