Police were still trying Tuesday to find the culprit in a vandalism

spree that left 26 vehicles in a Huntington Beach neighborhood with at

least one cut tire, some with multiple slash marks.

“The damage goes into the thousands [of dollars],” said Sgt. Janet

Perez, spokeswoman for the Huntington Beach Police Department. “We have

identified a possible suspect who is not in custody and are continuing

our investigation.”

The vandal struck early Saturday morning, police said, cutting car

tires apparently at random in a mile radius around the 20000 block of

Farnsworth Lane. Cars parked on Kingfisher Drive and Catamaran Lane were

also hit.

Police officials said they believe the tires of new and old cars alike

were slashed between the hours 4 and 7 a.m., and a motive has not been

determined. The investigation is continuing, police said.

3 sought in attempt to steal drugs

Huntington Beach police were still searching Tuesday for two males who

are believed to have tried to steal drugs from a male juvenile. The two

men and a third man, 24-year-old Miseal Bustos, tried to buy marijuana

from the minor on Ronald Street at 2:50 p.m. Oct. 18, police said.

One of the three pulled a handgun on the juvenile, demanded the drugs

and pulled the trigger twice, but the gun did not fire, police said. The

three fled on foot without taking the drugs, and the police investigation

is continuing, Lt. Lloyd Edwards said.

Bustos was later booked by police on misdemeanor charges associated

with the incident.

Sandwich Shop at 16373 Harbor Blvd. on Oct. 18.

The man entered the shop at 9:05 p.m., rushed around the counter and

pushed a female employee out of the way, police said, adding that he then

removed money from the cash register and fled the area on foot.

The man told the employee he had a weapon and raised an 18-inch

squeegee above his shoulder. He is described as 40 to 49 years old; 5
