BRIEFLY IN THE NEWS
The Costa Mesa Advisory Committee of Teens will host Sound Off, a free
teen summit, from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Arlington Theatre at the
Orange County Fairgrounds.
Local teens are invited to bring their school identifications and
attend the event. MTV-style video testimonials will be shot throughout
the afternoon to gather information on life as a teenager in Costa Mesa.
The summit will also feature live bands, activities and
representatives from churches, community organizations and school clubs.
The information gathered at the summit will be provided to youth
service groups, and ultimately used in creating a youth master plan for
Costa Mesa.
The Advisory Committee of Teens is a city-appointed panel of 13
members, ages 14 to 18, who live or go to school in the city. The
committee advises the City Council and city officials on subjects
relating to the youth in the city.
