Amateur and professional photographers are welcome to enter a contest
for colored photography showing the visual beauty of Newport Beach. The
photos will appear in a book titled “Newport Beach: A Photographic
Portrait,” planned by Twin Lights Publishers and Macatawa Bay Associates.
Entries must be postmarked by Oct. 31. Forms are available at most
local photo processing and camera equipment stores, at the Newport Harbor
Area Chamber of Commerce and the Newport Public Library. First prize is a
$1,000 U.S. savings bond, second prize is a $500 U.S. savings bond and

New appointee at performing arts center
Donna L. Mumford has been appointed assistant vice president,
development for the Orange County Performing Arts Center. She will be
responsible for building The Center’s endowment fund, working with donors
in estate planning and supervising the individual giving programs. She
was formerly director of gift planning for Claremont Graduate University
in Claremont, Calif.
High School Dance Day planned at OCC
More than 225 Orange County high school students and their faculty
advisors are expected to attend Orange Coast College’s 17th annual High School Dance Day, set for 8 a.m. March 7. The event, hosted annually by
OCC’s Dance Department, is designed to encourage high school students to
consider further study in the field of dance.
Each high school student will take part in a series of four classes,
taught by members of OCC’s Dance Department faculty. Students can choose
from a variety of styles, including flamenco, modern, ballet, tap, jazz,
African and street dance.
