Vanguard wins, 4-0

COSTA MESA - Vanguard University was a 4-0 winner in men’s soccer

Wednesday afternoon at the expense of Christian Heritage in a Golden

State Athletic Conference game.

The Lions had a balanced attack with goals coming from Esaul Mendoza,

Diego Goni, Matt Hearn and Zach Sadler. There was little suspense with

the hosts in command at halftime, 3-0.

Michael Murphy, Josh McLeish, Joakim Ulfvebrand and Goni each had an

assists, while Matt Resor was credited with four saves.

Goni scored the opening goal on a cross from McLeish and it was

Resor’s fifth shutout.

The Lions improved to 8-4-1, 5-1-1 in the GSAC. Christian Heritage

fell to 6-10, 2-5.
