THE RACE FOR HUNTINGTON BEACH UNION HIGH SCHOOL BOARD
Angelique Flores
Khosrow “Ted” Tadayon said the most important issue facing any school
district in America, particularly those in California, is “low
performance at best, and no performance at worst.”
“Our educational system, like that infamous tire manufacturer, is
producing low-performing or outright defective products -- ill-trained or
illiterate students that regularly need to be recalled, retrained or made
all over again from scratch,” he said.
The Huntington Beach Union High School District must rethink its
mission and methods to emerge from the bottom of the heap, Tadayon said.
“A new age is upon us, but the education bureaucracies fight to keep
the status quo,” he said. “A complete restructuring of the system is in
order. We need fresh, unbiased thinking and action in education.”
Tadayon earned his bachelor’s degree from Ohio Christian College in
1971 and his master’s degree from Queens College of New York in 1975. He
went on to Columbia University, where he earned both a master’s and
doctorate in education.
