Pee Wee Green Chargers win, 32-0
The Huntington Beach Pee Wee Green Chargers ended a winless streak at
four games Saturday by routing the Saddleback Golden Bears, 32-0.
The Green Chargers (2-3) ran their offense to near perfection in the
first half, scoring on four possessions to take command of the game.
Eugene Starikov rushed for 96 yards in the opening half, scoring on
runs of 32 and 28 yards. Starikov also teamed with quarterback Les Obie
on a 35-yard touchdown pass in the half. Obie completed two for three
passes for 48 yards and also rushed for 53 yards before the break.
Huntington Beach’s defense also turned in an outstanding effort that
was highlighted by Marcus Sotelo’s 28-yard interception return for a
touchdown and that the team limited Saddleback to just one first down.
In halftime homecoming ceremonies, Starikov was named homecoming king
and Alexandra Downey was named homecoming queen.

Huntington Beach 13, San Clemente 12
The Mitey Mite Green Chargers fought back from a 12-0 deficit to post
their first victory of the season Saturday.
Cesar Herrera capped an eight-play drive early in the second half for
Huntington Beach’s first score, and the Green Chargers defense came up
with its second big play of the fourth quarter as Richard Ballesteros
caused a fumble, which was recovered by Jullien Herrera, with less than
two minutes to play.
Four plays later, Brandon Visnoski punched in the winning touchdown.
San Clemente’s final possession ended with an interception by Herrera
with one minute to play.
Dillon Petrarca also had a fumble recovery for Huntington Beach.
