AT ISSUE: The city of Huntington Beach wants to move Burlington Coat
Factory and Wards from the proposed Huntington Beach mall.
Burlington and Wards should be able to stay in the shopping Center
(“Huntington Center tenants distressed over possible move,” Oct. 12). I
can’t imagine what they are thinking by making it into an Italian
shopping center.BEVERLY ALLEN

If the City Council’s idea of “high end” includes a 22-screen movie
complex and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, they might as well let Wards and
Burlington Coat Factory stay.

Burlington and Wards should not be part of the proposed Crossings at
Huntington. I would say get them out of here.

Yes, Wards especially [should be allowed to stay]. It has been with
the mall since it opened. To reward their loyalty, should we kick out
Wards and Burlington? No. They have stuck by us. I also have a problem
with an Italian villa [design]. That has nothing to do with a beach city.
Council members would be foolish to get rid of Wards and Burlington.

I definitely think Burlington and Wards should stay there. I think
it’s ridiculous to try and push them out of there, especially when they
are willing to go along with the silly Italian theme, which I don’t
understand anyway.JUDY HOSOI

It would be an injustice to have them taken out.JAN MARKMAN
Huntington BeachWards and Burlington Coat Factory should definitely be
allowed to stay at Huntington Center. They’ve been the bread and butter
of the center for the last few years. Huntington Beach as a whole is not
an upscale town; we like stores like this.
If we want to do upscale shopping, we’ll go to South Coast Plaza or
Fashion Island. A 22-screen movie theater complex is a stupid idea.
Several chains are in bankruptcy.
