GIRLS NJB BASKETBALL ACTION
The East Huntington Beach seventh-grade All-Net girls’ basketball team
capped a perfect Green Conference season Sunday by winning twice on the
final day of the regular season.
The Cheetahs began the day with a 56-18 home victory over Montebello
at Edison High. Kelly Parson led East Huntington Beach with a game-high
20 points, six rebounds and vie steals. Kay-Dee Lane also hit double
figures with 12 points and five rebounds, as did Allyson Weimer, who
scored 10 points.
D.J. Butler also contributed six points, 13 rebounds and four blocked
shots; Stacey Yin had four points and five rebounds; Sandy Takata had
four rebounds; and Angela Kneeland had six rebounds.
East Huntington Beach came back Sunday afternoon to defeat host
Fullerton, 34-28, at Troy High. Parson finished with 11 points, four
rebounds and three steals; Butler scored 10 points to go along with 16
rebounds and three blocks; and Weimer finished with seven points and
seven rebounds as the Cheetahs concluded conference play with a 6-0
record.
East Huntington Beach NJB will hold a sign-up session Saturday from 1
to 3 p.m. outside the Ocean View High gym, with a player evaluation
taking place at 2 p.m.
