AYSO Region 57: Red Raiders, Blue Devils battle to tie

NEWPORT BEACH - The Red Raiders and Blue Devils played to a 2-2

draw on Oct. 9, in AYSO Region 57 boys under 12 soccer action.

Peter Fankuchen and Paul Bioche each scored for the Blue Devils to tie

the game.

For the Red Bombers, Nick Freeman and Andy Rovzar scored goals, while

Ford Noe left the game with a broken arm.

A strong Blue Devils’ defense, led by Geoffrey Grant, Mike Brusic,

Omeed Alipour and Andrew Garten, held the Red Raiders back.

Parker Rhodes and David Grant used solid ball-handling to spark the

Blue Devils’ comeback.

In other boys under 12 action:

Funky Monkeys 4, White Tigers 3 - John Leonard helped the Monkeys

score three unassisted goals for the win over the Tigers.

The Tigers came storming back in the second half with two goals by

Steve Hillgren and one by Omeed Alemi.

Strong play by the Tigers’ Cameron Morreale, Morgan Boman, Alex Belove

and Riley Sullivan set up the comeback attempt.

The Wedge 2, Orange Revenge 1 - Christian Morabito scored two goals,

both off assists from R.J. Baldoni, to lead the Wedge to the win.

Julian Marisco, Alexander Ray and Michael McHugh contributed

offensively for the Wedge, while Kevin Kottke, Scott Feely, Rickey Lobel

and Andy Bender provided the defense.

Red Devils 4, Chick Magnets 0 - John Wheeler had three goals, while

Max Rollins added a fourth for the Red Devils in their win over the Chick

Magnets. Strong defensive play from Morgan Brombel, Ryan Lanni, Trevor

Gladych, Thomas Dialynas and Alex Neff preserved the shutout.In girls

Division 5 action:

Teal Tidalwaves 2, Galaxy Girls 1 - Trailing, 1-0, Alexa Rome and Rene

Mycorn each scored for the Teal Tidalwaves in their win on Saturday.

The Tidalwaves’ defense was led by Lauren Smits, Lisa Radomski,

Elizabeth Murray, Kate Duddy, Alexa Cohen, Kelsey Larson, Athena Livadas,

Kelsey Valley and Nicole Cook.

In boys under 8 action:

For the Blue Angels, in their contest with the Blue Sharks, Erik

Ctvrtlick, Troy Reese, Nick McGuinness, Reed Tucker and Davis Case all

came through with goals.

In a tough contest between the Green Lightning Bolts and the Blue

Blazers, Mason Case and Bruce Bearer scored for the Bolts, while Max

Muchlhauser scored for the Blazers.

The Fireballs, in their contest with the Stingers, were led

offensively by Jack Gorab and John Swigert, who each scored goals on

assists from Kevin Kitzens and Nick Molinaro.

Fireballs’ goalkeepers Matthew Burt and Gianni Multari each played

well, while the defense was led by Logan Burkhead, Matt Larson and

Anthony Daboub.

For the Blue Blizzard, in their game with the Blue Dominators, Ryan

Grable scored a goal, while the defense was controlled by Clark Cashion,

Everett Scholey, Zack Greensite, Brandon McHugh, Jeffrey Dyess and Eric

Hallett.

In the Firebolts’ game against the Fluffy Green Bunnies, Ben Greiner

scored two goals, while Connor Gaal and Zack Morrison each added single

tallies.

The Bunnies had a strong defensive effort from J.T. Hunt, John

Orickett, Eric Morris and Rodney Keller, while Garrett Larson, Emery

Molnar, Eric Frazier and Alex Guthrie sparked the offense.

For the Green Devil Rays in their game with the Sharks, Eric Zamucen,

Brandon Zelner, Kent Smith, Billy MacDonald and Kevin Maguire all scored

goals, while Alex Matar, Pete Rigas, Connor Canale and Tanner Grandstaff

anchored the defense.

The Dragons played a tough game in their matchup with the Grey Wolves.

Chris Piggott and Nick Mathews each scored goals for the Dragons, while

Jack Presson, David Leguay, David Shelley, Grant Davis, Kenji Fujita,

Kevin Zipser and John Wheeler each played solid all-around games.

In the Speeding Fireballs’ contest on Saturday, Josh Giger led the

offense with two goals, while Taylor Epp and Daniel Hohl contributed with

a goal each. Goalie Nicholas Beyrooty made several saves in goal for the

Speeding Fireballs.

In the Green Machine’s contest with the Blaster, Timmy Dewees scored a

goal, while Matthew Francini, Alexander Yelich and Dylan Gillespie helped

spark the offense.

The Green Machine’s defense was led by Michael Bui, Michael Doering,

Andrew Doka and Ryan Banning.
