PAUL STUDIER ON:
* THE WAR ON DRUGS
“Your body is your personal property. You might say that I’m
pro-choice.”
Calls for an immediate end to the criminalization of the use of all
drugs and the immediate release from prison of all nonviolent drug
offenders.
* BEACH POLLUTION
Argues that beach pollution needs to be addressed at the most local
level, rather than being tackled through a broad program.
“I consider it a local problem,” he said. “The main pollution of the
beaches is leaking sewage,” and the agencies that are responsible for
maintaining sewer lines should be held accountable for the leaks.
“It shouldn’t be dealt with by the state or even the whole county.”
* THE THREE-STRIKES BILL
Calls for its repeal, a position that is a direct shot at Ross
Johnson, the coauthor of the bill.
“It’s grossly unfair to put people in jail for 25 years for minor,
nonviolent felonies.”
* VOTING FOR A THIRD-PARTY CANDIDATE
“If you vote Republican or Democrat, you’re just encouraging them to
keep doing what they’re doing. They won’t change until you change your
vote.”
