What better place for confrontation and drama than in a hotel lobby.
Watch a performance by the New Voices Playwrights Workshop in “Scenes
from a Hotel Lobby” today, Sunday and Oct. 21 and 22 at the Costa Mesa
Civic Playhouse, 661 Hamilton St. Show times are 2 p.m. Saturdays and 6
p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors.

SUNDAY
Take a moment to enjoy the soaring tones of opera. Soloist Christopher
Campbell will sing classical opera pieces accompanied by Rodger Whitten
at 7 p.m. at Community Congregational Church, 611 Heliotrope Ave. in
Corona del Mar. Campbell was lead tenor with the New York City Opera
National Company for a tour of “Madame Butterfly.” He will perform the
music of Bizet, Caccini, Bellini, Rossini and Aaron Copland. A $12
donation per person is suggested. A champagne reception will follow.

MONDAY
When else will your child get to wear pajamas in public? The Newport
Beach Central Library offers story time at 7 p.m Mondays and 10:30 a.m.
Saturdays. The library is at 1000 Avocado Ave. Children may wear pajamas

TUESDAY
What relation does writing have with visual art? Check out
“Correspondences,” which showcases drawings and sculptures by Ellsworth
Kelly and Isamu Noguchi. The show will be on view through Sunday at the
Orange County Museum of Art, 850 San Clemente Drive, Newport Beach. Hours
are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. $5 for adults, $4 for
students and seniors, museum members and children younger than 16 are

WEDNESDAY
It’s the world through Claire Steinberg’s eyes, through her
photographic lens. The Susan Spiritus Gallery will exhibit the
photographer’s works through the end of January at 3929 Birch St.,
