Thrashers go overtime, edge Hot Shots for title
Neil Byford’s unassisted goal at the 1:24 mark of overtime provided
the margin of difference Saturday as the Trashers outlasted the Hot
Shots, 7-6, in the Patrick Division’s championship match played at Coast
2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.
Byford’s goal was the only score in overtime, and he also ended his
team’s scoring the way he began it, with an unassisted goal in the
opening quarter.
Byford also collected an assist.
Jonathan Radin also scored once with an assist, Brandon Davis, Traves
Smith, and Colby Kasubuchi all scored once, and Stephen Powers had an
assist to complete the Thrashers offense.
Thrashers goalie Matt Thomas finished with 24 saves, including one in
overtime.
Jeffrey Ane paced the Hot Shots with three goals, Kevin Tanaka scored
twice and had an assist, John Barrows scored once, Brian Kaminsky had a
match-high three assists, and Danny Cano also had an assist.
Hot Shot goalie Alex Vongkoth stopped 26 shot attempts.

Kings 6, Renegades 3
The Kings jumped out to a 3-1 first quarter advantage and never
relinquished that lead.
Kenneth Sabraw and Adam Sebrasky each scored twice and had an assist,
Nate Jahns and David Imparato both scored, and goalie Casey Maines had 24
saves to lead the Kings.
Jason Gutierrez scored twice and had an assist to pace the Renegades,
who also received a single goal from Mats Degerstedt, an assist from John
Gutierrez, and 24 saves by goalie Marc Cooney.
