Pee Wee Jaguars come up short, 8-6
The Fountain Valley Pee Wee Jaguars lost a tough defensive battle
to the La Mirada Matadores Saturday, falling, 8-6, in Junior All-American
Football action.
Following a scoreless first half, La Mirada scored on its initial
possession of the second half, then converted a two-point conversion to
go up, 8-0.
Viken Bitar set up the Jaguars offensively with an interception at the
La Mirada 15 yard line, and Fountain Valley converted the miscue into a
touchdown when Bryan Schutte scored on a three yard run.
Schutte, running behind an offensive line consisting of Martin Duran,
Brandon Cooke, Coby Mason, Kevin Loyola, and Andrew Schneider, rushed for
137 yards on 24 carries to lead the Jaguars.
Eric Ceja paced the Jaguar defense with nine tackles, while Eric
Faamausili, Cody Steiner, and Mark Cubberly contained La Mirada’s wing T
offense for much of the game.
The Pee Wee Jaguars, now 3-2, travel Saturday to take on the Newport
Mesa Seahawks (3-1-1).
