OC Rush remains in first after 3-1 win
Orange Coast United Rush girls Under-12 Division soccer club
maintained its grip on first place Saturday by defeating the Canyon
Classic FC of Anaheim Hills, 3-1, at Estancia High in Costa Mesa.
Amy Staudinger scored the first goal for OCU Rush with an assist from
Samantha Castillo in an otherwise defensive-minded first half of play.
Cindy Mendoza and Courtney Anderson both scored second half goals to
help seal the victory for OCU Rush, which continues to lead the Coast
Soccer League standings.
Defense, which has become a trademark for OCU Rush this season, again
was outstanding against Canyon Classic FC. Leading the way were
goalkeeper Tori Rocke, sweeper Elyse VanLeer, Amanda Shaw, Brittany
Koster, Robin Ibbetson, Jennifer Powell, Chelsea Wisdom, Brianna Baker,
and Sasha Key.
