THE RACE FOR FOUNTAIN VALLEY CITY HALL
Torus Tammer
FOUNTAIN VALLEY -- Of the five City Council members, Larry Crandall is
considered one of the most personable, and he comes into next month’s
election with a profusion of political experience.
“I wanted to continue my public service to the residents of Fountain
Valley,” Crandall said of his reason for running. “I ran for the vacant
two-year seat and was elected to my current position on the City Council
in 1998.”
He says he is proud of the city’s efforts, particularly balancing the
city’s budget while maintaining or increasing public safety, personnel
and equipment levels. Crandall said he will continue to support a
fiscally responsible budget and strong fire and police departments.
He expects water will become an even more important issue the city
will face.
“Our residents need to be assured that the quantity and quality of our
water is adequate to meet their needs,” he said. “I will support the
ground-water replenishment program, saltwater intrusion injection wells,
and oppose other agencies’ attempts to obtain our water.”

LARRY CRANDALL ON:
* A BALANCED BUDGET:
Crandall wants a balanced budget that provides for public safety,
personnel and equipment levels that will be maintained or increased to
result in effectively delivered public services.
“I will continue to support a fiscally responsible budget and strong
fire and police departments.”
* RECREATIONAL VEHICLE PARKING
Crandall supports the portion of the existing ordinance that allows a
resident to park a recreational vehicle on his or her private property
and allows for 72 hours of street parking so that the owner may load,
unload or maintain the vehicle.
“I will propose a change in the language of the ordinance that will
require all recreational vehicles to be moved out of the neighborhood
after 72 hours to a permanent storage location. To be proactive, all
residents should avail themselves of the public comment portion of our
meetings and make contact with council members and city staff to express
their concerns.”
