Clinic Jaguars take heart in 13-6 victory
Displaying plenty of heart, especially on defense, the Fountain
Valley Clinic Jaguars scored a key road victory last Saturday, beating
the South Orange County Patriots, 13-6, in Junior All-American Football
play.
The Jaguars, clinging to a seven point lead late in the contest, sewed
up the win when Bryce Blake’s hit forced a Patriots fumble, which was
recovered by teammate Alexander Ackle with one minute remaining.
It was the exclamation point on a big defensive day by the Clinic
Jaguars, who held the high-powered South Orange County offense to just 35
yards of total offense.
Trent Burns paced the defense with 11 tackles while Blake, Matt
Empting, Chris Martinez, Scott Rychlik, Diego Boggio, and Stephan Robb,
combined for 35 more tackles.
Fountain Valley scored one touchdown on a 60 yard, 13 play drive that
featured key gains by Robb and Burns, and solid blocking by Martinez and
Matt James, and a punishing offensive line of Andy Palacios, Paul
Fernandez, Nicco Boggio, Ryan Mcnicol, Danny Dion, and Joshua Schnitker.
The drive was capped by a one yard plunge by Blake.The Clinic Jaguars
also scored in the fourth quarter, a 14 play, 70 yard drive culminating
in a two yard touchdown run by Empting, who led Fountain Valley with 93
yards rushing.
The Clinic Jaguars finished with 237 yards of total offense.
