Pop Warner: Mighty Mite Mustangs beat Canyon
The Costa Mesa Pop Warner Mighty Mite Mustangs defeated the Canyon
Panthers, 32-7, on Saturday.
After trailing, 7-0, in the opening minutes, the Mustangs dominated
the rest of the game.
Jordan Palmer scored on a quarterback run in the first quarter and
Bobby Lenke scored on a 42-yard run in the third quarter.
Mark Contreras had two 60-yard runs with one touchdown, while on
defense, Coleman Brown, Geovanny Pineda and Keanu Asuega each had
numerous tackles.
In other Pop Warner action:
Junior Peewee Mustangs 19, Lakewood 0 - In the defensive gem, Costa
Mesa was led by Garrick Williams, Joshua Erno, Brian Julian, Andrew
Millian, Ian Abernathy, Westin Ross, Juan Moreno, John Salyer and Frank
DeNoewer.
On offense, Codi Matthews rushed for 180 yards on 11 carries and
scored two touchdowns.
In the fourth quarter, Antwon Byrd scored the final touchdown, while
Garrick Williams kicked an extra point.
Joshua Erno and Codi Fairfield also ran the ball well for the
Mustangs.
