Girls water polo: CdM finishes sixth
NEWPORT BEACH - Corona del Mar High’s girls water polo team
defeated El Toro but lost to Capistrano Valley to finish sixth at the
Newport Harbor/Corona del Mar tournament Saturday at Newport Harbor High.
In the first game, Hayley Hapeman and Daniela DiGiacomo each scored two
goals as CdM (8-7) got a 5-2 win over El Toro. CdM goalie Arin
Hendrickson was instrumental, getting 11 saves to preserve the victory.
But the Sea Kings fell to Capo Valley in the fifth-place game, 7-5.
Freshman Danielle Carlson scored three times for CdM, who got four goals
in the fourth. But Capo Valley’s Ashley and Amy Stackowski combined for
five goals to lead the Cougars.
