Girls tennis: Harbor downed by Woodbridge
IRVINE - The Newport Harbor High girls tennis team won just two
sets in singles play and fell to Woodbridge, 12-6, in a Sea View League
match Thursday.
Junior Megan Hawkins and freshman Vanessa Dunlap each had a victory in
singles competition.
Harbor went to 2-1 in league and 6-4, overall. The Sailors will play
in the CdM-Pavillions All-American Classic tournament today.
SEA VIEW LEAGUE
Woodbridge 12, Newport Harbor 6
Singles: Hawkins (NH) lost to Lingman 0-6, lost to Exon 6-7 (5-7 in
tiebreaker), def. Beshati 6-1; Nelson lost 0-6, 2-6, 2-6; Dunlap lost
1-6, 0-6, won 6-0.
Doubles: Adams-McIntosh def. Hostat-Rye 7-6 (7-5 in tiebreaker), def.
Fazeli-Roth 6-1, def. Litmanovich-Spitz 6-3; Buder-D. Khoury lost 4-6,
1-6, 4-6; C. Khoury-Dobson lost 2-6, 4-6, won 6-4.
COSTA MESA - Hillary Havens, Misa Lee and Sunglee Kim each won one set
for the Costa Mesa High girls tennis team. But it wasn’t enough as
Northwood got the 13-5 Pacific Coast League victory Thursday.
Mesa fell to 1-2 in the PCL and will try to rebound against Corona del
Mar on Tuesday.
PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE
Northwood 13, Costa Mesa 5Singles: Havens (CM) lost to Lopez 0-6,
def. Chin 6-1, lost to Hasse 3-6; Lee lost 0-6, won 6-2, lost 2-6; Kim
lost 0-6, won 6-1, 6-1.
Doubles: Nguyen-Pham lost to Lopez-Nguyen 2-6, lost to Rajan-McNeil
4-6, def. Doan-Pisalyaput 6-1; Doan-Vu lost 3-6, 1-6, 0-6; Peng-Nguyen
lost 1-6, 2-6, 3-6.
