OCC men rout Santa Ana, 15-8
COSTA MESA - Orange Coast College was a 15-8 winner in men’s water
polo Wednesday as the Pirates routed the visiting Dons with six
first-quarter goals in the Orange Empire Conference encounter. Jeffrey
Pratt led the way with five goals. Oralndo Vazquez scored three goals and
Doug Jacobe and Jeffrey Sample each scored two goals.
After letting the Dons (3-6, 1-4 in the OEC) close the gap to 8-5
midway through the third quarter, Coast produced five straight scores to
put the game out of reach.
“We did a good job out there today,” said OCC Coach Jason Gall.
“Overall we played pretty well.”
The Pirates improved to 6-5, 2-1.

watched his Pirates swamp the visiting Santa Ana Dons, 19-2, in Orange
Empire Conference play Wednesday.
Deanna Espinosa, Kathy Klarich and Heather Lemke each scored four
goals, and Megan Bowers and Katie Sacket each scored twice.
The Pirates, ranked No. 2 in the state, improved to 9-2-1, 2-1 in the
OEC.
The Pirates scored three goals in the first 90 seconds and cruised the
rest of the way. It was 13-1 at halftime.
“Everybody played well,” said Giles. “This team that was out there
today could win a lot of games.”
