AYSO Region 120: APP team edges RSM
The Costa Mesa boys under 13 APP soccer team from AYSO Region 120,
defeated Rancho Santa Margarita, 2-1, last weekend.
Adrian Jiminez led Costa Mesa with a goal and an assist, while Brian
Henriques added the second goal.
Kyle Eckmann was solid in goal and made numerous saves, while Ian
Lamb, Jordan Kalke, Evan Vangeem, Nick Juarez, Michael McDaniels and Nick
Arant anchored the defense.
The midfield was led by Danny Perez, Andy Sussman, Keith Eldridge,
Scott Braunsdorf and Kane Curran.
Costa Mesa also defeated North Irvine, 5-1, with two goals by Perez
and goals by Jiminez, Braunsdorf and Henriques.
In boys under 10 action:
Blue Jays 10, Raiders 1 - Cory Frino, Brennan Karr and Ray Holmes led
the Blue Jays to the win over the Raiders.
Hans Anderle, Matt Parsons, Langdon Holmes, Brian Dehdashtian and
goal-scorer Preston Schow led the way for the Raiders.
Galaxy 4, Tigers 1 - Brian Gran, Austin Berry and Hector Solis were
the most active for the Tigers.
Yacet Acosta scored in the third quarter off a nice pass from Derek
Lecot for the lone Tigers’ goal.
In an earlier match, the Tigers lost to Team #11, 3-0, despite strong
play from Bray, Brian Camacho-Clark and Micky Keef.
For the Gladiators, in Thursday’s contest, Anthony Flores, Farret
Frazier, Zackary Noon, Kyle Eldridge, Marc De Frenza, Derek Salgado, Evan
Edison, Qusai Bhaijewala and David Felix each played well on both sides
of the ball to lead the team to victory.
In Division 5 girls action:
American Girls 3, Red Hot Chili Peppers 0 - Kristina Rocke was kept
busy on defense and was assisted by Emily Olson, Nicole Apted and
goalkeeper Ashley Rendon for the Chili Peppers.
In other girls action:
Power Pink Girls 7, Power Puff Girls 4 - Nikki Khorram and Bella
Secaira each scored goals for the Power Pink Girls, while Ingrid Lecot,
Aryanna St. Pierre and Nina Anderle also sparked the offense.
Annika Borg-Sundstrom pitched in with strong corner kicks and defense.
In boys under 8 action:
For the Purple Rockets, Brandon Anderson scored a goal in their game
with the Champs.
Octavio Belmont and Joel Allen each played well offensively, while
Adam Bizban earned Player of the Game honors.
