Flathers among top runners

Huntington Beach’s Kelly Flathers is one of the featured runners

who will participate Sunday in the 2000 Orange County Race for the Cure,

an annual event held to raise funds for the fight against Breast Cancer.

Flathers, 28, has competed in the past three Orange County Race for

the Cure events, placing seventh in 1999, sixth in ‘98, and seventh again

in ’97.

In addition, Flathers also ran a 16:52 at the Corona del Mar 5K last

June.

The certified 5K course starts in front of the Newport Beach Marriott

and finishes in front of the Pacific Life Building.

The day will include a Women’s 5k run/walk race, a Family 1 Mile Fun

Walk, a Coed 5K Run, and a Coed 5K Walk.
