Girls tennis: Sailors drop opener

IRVINE - The Newport Harbor High girls tennis team dropped its

season opener Tuesday, falling to nonleague host University, 13-5.

The Sailors were led by doubles partners Bonnie Adams and A.J. Olson,

both freshmen, who won two sets in their varsity debut.

Singles - Hawkins (NH) lost to Biorkman, 1-6, lost to Kim, 2-6, lost

to Janner, 2-6; Nelson (NH) lost, 2-6, 3-6, won, 6-2; Dunlap (NH) lost,

0-6, 1-6, 4-6.

Doubles - Buder-C. Khoury (NH) lost to Langer-Wilson, 1-6, def.

Ho-Aswad, 7-6, lost to Yuen-Djem, 3-6; McIntosh-D. Khoury (NH) lost, 5-7,

2-6, won, 6-4; Adams-Olson won, 7-5, lost, 4-6, won, 6-3.
