Goode good in net, Panthers win, 2-1

The play of goalie Katie Goode Wednesday during the Panthers’ Adams
Division contest with the Wing Nuts proved to be the difference in the
match, which the Panthers pulled out, 2-1, at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey
Center in Huntington Beach.
Goode stopped 24 shot attempts by the Wing Nuts, and only gave up an
unassisted goal to Caitlin Apostol at the three minute mark of the
opening period.
The Panthers’ scoring came from unassisted goals by Ian Arnold in the
first quarter, and by Mitch Robinson, who scored the winning goal with
one second remaining on the second period clock.
Wing Nuts goalie Eric Grant recorded 13 saves.
In other games:
Kings 5, Blackhawks 3
Zachary Jennings scored the first three goals for the Kings and ended up
with a match-high four goals -- including the go-ahead goal in the third
period -- to lift his team to victory.
Jennings also picked up an assist, Lauren Zike scored once, Cailey Bixman
had two assist, and Makenna Song collected an assist to close out the
Kings offense. Kings goalie Taylor Song had 19 saves.
The Blackhawks received two goals from Shayne Nelson, one goal from Kelly
Culhane, an assist from Chase Pearce, and 22 saves from goalie David
Johnson.
Hurricanes 3, Lightning 3 (tie)
Austin Locke, Sean O’Connell, and Michael Godinho all scored for the
Hurricanes; Brett Harper scored two goals, David Abady scored once, and
Patrick Hudson and Gregory Hancock each had an assist for the Lightning,
who battled back from a 2-0 deficit to earn the tie.
Ice Pups 4, Termites 1
Travis Beckman scored three goals and Kirsten Marony scored once to lead
the Ice Pups.
Chad Carpenter scored unassisted and goalie Krisondra Daigneault stopped
23 shots for the Termites.
