The Wave tops Huntington Beach, 5-1

The Wave, an Under-10 boys Spring Select squad out of AYSO Region 5

(Fountain Valley), completed the first round of playoff competition last

weekend with a win and a tie.

The Wave opened play with a 5-1 victory over Huntington Beach. Mike

Nevarez led the charge with two goals and an assist, Alex Gallardo scored

off a corner kick, and Jason Frazier and Alex Loeffelman each scored

once.

Danny Shoop, Nadeem Abdo, and Richie Unfried each had an assist to close

out the offensive attack for The Wave.

In its next match, The Wave was held to a scoreless tie by rival Belmont

Shores in a match where Jordan Black came up with two saves, and the play

of Gallardo also contributed to the shutout.
